Lionel Scaloni, coach of Argentina, stressed that the team will not change its style due to the loss it received against Saudi Arabia in the first round.
The Saudi national team achieved a historic victory with two goals to one at the expense of Argentina in the first round of the group stage of the World Cup held in Qatar.
Scaloni said in the press conference: “We analyzed our match against Saudi Arabia carefully. We are now thinking about facing Mexico, which will be different from the first match, but not in our style because we will not change it because of what happened.”
“Mexico is a strong team and this is what I said after the draw. They are an attacking team and they have a different style of play,” he added.
And about Messi’s readiness, he explained, “He trained well, and he feels better in all respects, especially in the emotional sense.”
And he elaborated, “The anniversary of Maradona’s birth? A sad day for the whole world. Tomorrow we hope to bring him joy. If he looks at us from heaven, it is still unbelievable that he is no longer here.”
And he concluded, “Fortunately, the matter depends on us, we will have confidence because one setback did not distort the path that we took.”
And the Saudi national team ended a series of 36 consecutive matches without defeat for Argentina, as the second longest series in football history, behind Italy, which has 37 matches.
Argentina will face Mexico in the second round of the 2022 World Cup group stage.
Argentina is in Group C with Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.
