The world of mixed martial arts can’t wait. In Las Vegas, under the umbrella of the elite UFC, American Dominic Reyes and Czech Jerry Prochazka will be closed together. It will be a golden nail, the main fencing of the evening.
While Czech fans and experts are clear about the favorite, the pre-match votes in the United States are more divided. Ex-fighter Muhammad Lawal strongly warned ESPN about the American tendency to subconsciously minimize anything that does not come from “the land of freedom”.
“It’s often the case,” said the 40-year-old wrestler. “Just because these guys don’t fight in America or for certain organizations, people here think it’s worthless.”
He did not talk about Procházka by chance. He has experience with him, and although nearly six years have passed since a duel in Rizin, Japan, memories of the art of the Czech bomber have not faded away.
“When I lost in front of him after the knockout in the first round, people were amazed. But I knew the boy was so good, he could only fight. Walking would be a problem for anyone,” Lawal said.
He is well aware that the Czech fighter has developed significantly in recent years. “Prochazka’s speed, chin and heart will be a big problem for Reyes,” he added.
According to Wall, maybe one thing only can betray the 28-year-old Czech, whom ESPN writes about as a “Czech flying monster”. Lack of experience in cage fighting, as he fought for Rizin for many years in the ring.
Show both opponents through UFC eyes:
At the premiere of Procházka last year in the UFC against Volkan Oezdemir, however, this supposed handicap did not show itself. Bohemia fought hard, weirdly, and unexpectedly, and yet it gained a lot of attention. According to Lawal, he played with his opponent, because he wasn’t fast enough, so he doesn’t see any reason to underestimate Procházka because of his technique.
“Jerry can handle a lot of shots and if he has a faster opponent against him, he will show him more respect. Reyes has a certain chance of winning, but only if he comes up with a really clever battle plan,” he would have no doubt about who his favorite was.
A man nicknamed “King Mo” added, “Jerry’s confidence in herself is now somewhere in the sky. It is difficult to defeat a fighter with this confidence.” Conversely, Reyes’ mental state should be more negative after two title defeats last year.
American mixed martial arts instructor Eric Nexick is betting on Reyes, but admits he’s an eccentric.
“Jiří has a strange rhythm, but I don’t mean it at all. The correct word is unpredictable. It is difficult to look at it and difficult to know, find the right timing for it. This means that the Czech language is the best in the opening rounds”, he suggested that if he wanted The American has overcome Procházka, he must strive for a long match, where he will be able to download his own style to the best of his ability.
Jiří Procházka while weighing on Friday:
After one match, there are many fans of the native Hostěradice among the UFC elite. And there are many Americans among them.
Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson said, “George made such a big impression on me. He rarely sees a similar approach. I think he will win.”
Anthony “Lionheart” Smith added: “I really like George. He has a weird, broken style. I think Reyes will have trouble fighting someone very unconventional.”
In the evening, UFC Vegas starts 25 at night from Saturday to Sunday at 1 o’clock, and the main card is scheduled to start at 4 am CET. The main match between Reyes and Procházka can take place around six in the morning. It is broadcast live on Premier Sport.
