The AFP reported on Saturday that France had accused Britain of inadequate response and inhumanity in assisting Ukrainian refugees seeking to reunite with their families in the UK from the French port of Calais.
Hundreds of Ukrainians have recently arrived in the city of Kalேs, hoping to join relatives already established in the United Kingdom.
In a letter to his British envoy to Britain’s Prithvi Patel, seen by French Interior Minister Gerald Dormann on AFP, London stressed that the UK response was “absolutely inappropriate and often inhumane on refugees in distress”. A balance. Appropriate embassy in Galle to issue visa.
“In recent days, 400 Ukrainian refugees have presented themselves at the Klaus border crossings, but 150 of them have been asked to obtain visas from British embassies in Paris or Brussels,” Dormann said.
On Thursday, France announced that Britain would set up a temporary visa center in Calais to issue visas, following the announcement of a family plan that would allow family members and Ukrainians living in the UK to travel there immediately.
“Your embassy representative, exceptionally and throughout this crisis, is required to issue immediate family reunification visas at the college,” Dormann continued.
“It is incomprehensible that the UK has been able to provide such services in Poland, which borders Ukraine, but not in France, the UK’s closest neighbor,” he added.
