Update December 5th at 4:30PM ET: via IGN Taylor Lyles And an updated message on Walmart Gamer Drop homepage, the event won’t contain the new consoles you’re probably looking at, although they are highlighted in the illustrations. The post below has been updated to reflect this.
Walmart announced a new Gamer Drop event Coming to select stores on December 11th, the retailer promised to get the “latest games and console titles”. Presents it as a holiday shopping event, with exclusive discounts and amenities.
Bulletin published on Wal-Mart Highlights major consoles including the Nintendo Switch OLED model, Xbox Series X/S and both PlayStation 5 models with the phrase “Available in store or online at Walmart.com/GamerDrop.”
After the event was announced, Walmart added more text to the notice (you can see the original text in the image below), informing players that “PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch OLED will not be available during this event.” It’s not clear if they have Xbox Series X consoles on hand or not, but if they do, the consultant says you’ll only be able to purchase them as part of an All Access subscription.
This event is exclusive to select Walmart stores. You can find your nearest Walmart participating in the Gamer Drop event on Saturday 11th, by searching for your address or zip code at player drop page. The stores listed offer Gamer Drop opening hours from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., a limited window of hours for many Walmart stores. We’ve reached out to Walmart for more details and will look forward to more information.
