The Pixel 6 series So far, Google’s most modern smartphone lineup, but there’s one obvious feature that’s missing from the start. Despite numerous rumors that Face Unlock support for flagships may return, the Pixel 6 doesn’t have it. However, that doesn’t seem to mean that Google isn’t working on the feature just yet.
According to the developer strange 07 (free XDA Developers), there is still evidence of an ambush in the concealment act in a pledge issued in July. In particular, referring to the internal name “gs101” for “Face Unlock” and the Tensor SoC, trusted This feature confirms that there is currently a problem with power usage. Although it seems to work, it overuses CPU resources when not needed, which can affect battery life. This may also be one of the reasons why Google decided to drop Face Unlock on the Pixel 6 series on launch day.
However, Google may still be working on setting Face Unlock, but it is not known at the moment if it will implement it in a future update.
Google’s face and fingerprint scanners
Google flipped between fingerprint scanners and Face Unlock in the latest Pixel releases. The Pixel 4 Using only face unlock smartphones for authentication, there is no fingerprint authentication. The Pixel 5 To drop face unlock for the rear fingerprint scanner, flip it over.
The Pixel 6 series now uses an in-display fingerprint sensor, which isn’t without its problems. Obviously draining the Pixel 6’s battery completely can drain it Sensor is inactive. Users lament the sensor’s delay in recognizing fingerprints, but Google says safety measures More than a mistake.
However, it is always recommended to have more than one reliable authentication system. Hopefully Google will soon implement Facial Unlock Smart in the Pixel 6 series.
