Google Maps challenges Apple’s 3D mode with an actual neighborhood exploration tool

Cairo – Samia Sayed – The Google Maps application has launched a new viewing tool that combines Street View and aerial photos to allow you to virtually explore neighborhoods, by experiencing what a neighborhood, landmark, restaurant or famous place looks like, and even feels like you are there before you reach it, and whether you are traveling To a new place or looking for hidden local places, the comprehensive offer will help you make the most informed decisions before you travel.

According to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, the feature is very similar to the 3D mode of Apple Maps, which was launched last year, and the new tool was announced at the Google I / O conference this week.

“Google Maps was first launched to help people navigate to their destinations, and since then, it has evolved into much more than that,” said Myriam Daniel, Vice President of Google. “It is a handy companion when you need to find the perfect restaurant or get information about… local company.

Users can virtually explore cities from above, before tapping on specific streets or buildings to pounce at street level.

The app also performs a useful information overlay at the top, with the option to change the time to see how the area looks at different times of the day and in different weather conditions.
