Google said it will shut down the Android Auto for Phone Screens app, which is intended for smartphones, with the upcoming release of the Android 12 operating system. However, Android Auto will not completely disappear, but will be integrated into the Google Assistant.
According to “The Verge”, the person who wants an easy-to-driving interface for the “Android” phone will have to use the driving mode of the Google Assistant, which is available on “Google Maps” or through the original “Android Auto” interface available in specific cars.
It is known that the “Android Auto” application allowed its user to focus while driving and control features such as navigation, maps, calls, text messages and music, and the application, which can be downloaded from the Play Store, allows interaction with the car’s infotainment system.
“For those using the mobile experience (Android Auto mobile app), they will be taken to driving mode in the Google Assistant,” Google said in a statement.
It stated, “Starting with Android 12, Google Assistant driving mode will be an integrated driving experience on mobile. We don’t have more details to share right now.”
Google’s confirmation came next, with XDA Developers reporting that some users saw a message in the Android Auto app directing them to Google Assistant driving mode as an alternative.
According to XDA Developers, some owners of Pixel smartphones running Android 12 may have noticed that the app no longer works. Instead, a message appears telling them that “Android Auto is now only available for car screens. For the phone, try Google Assistant Driving View instead.” that”.
And “Google” decided in 2019 to build most of the features of Android Auto with Android 10, and it was a good thing for anyone with a car compatible with Android Auto, but anyone who has an old car will lose access to the easy-to-use interface that is available directly on their phones.
Google’s plan was for these users to use the new Google Assistant to drive, however, this program has been delayed, and despite being announced in 2019, it was only recently launched late last year.
The Google Assistant is also set to read incoming text messages aloud, and drivers can dictate response texts if they choose and media control commands.
