In a documentary film entitled “The Big Decision” dedicated to the young Norwegian star Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s top scorer, his father, Alfie Haaland, spoke about his son’s priorities after the expiration of his contract with his former club, Borussia Dortmund, and said that City was the first choice for Haaland’s transfer because this club is in his view. And his son considered the best in the world at the moment.
The father said that Bayern Munich was the second choice, Real Madrid the third choice, while Paris Saint-Germain came as a fourth option, then Liverpool, Barcelona and Chelsea came after that.
Halland’s father added: “These clubs were also in our minds because they are very good teams and their level is very close to City.”
And to a question: Why did the choice ultimately fall on Manchester City? The answer came this time from Erling Haaland himself in the documentary, as he said: “I did not change the club I play for for a coach (Coach), but what the Spaniard Pep Guardiola is doing with City is a wonderful thing. He is the best coach in the world. The City project is currently the best sports project in the world.”
However, Haaland’s father did not completely close the door to other clubs, but rather gave her a glimmer of hope when he said: “I think my son wants to prove his ability to play and adapt in various European leagues, and he may stay in City three or four years at the latest, then Then he can play for example two and a half years in Germany and another two and a half years in England and then go to Spain, Italy or France.”
It is worth noting that Erling Haaland’s contract with Manchester City runs until June 2027.
