His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, honored the patron of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Creativity”, one of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives”, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, the winners in the categories of the eleventh session of the award from local, Arab and international sports leaders, athletes, coaches, referees and officials from various sectors of sports work in the country, the Arab region and the world.
This came during the grand ceremony organized by the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Creativity” at the Convention and Exhibition Center at the headquarters of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, and His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Creativity” participated in the honoring, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Government of Dubai, His Excellency Lieutenant-General Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Abdullah Al Falasi, Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, and Ahmed Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai, Moza Al-Marri, Secretary-General of the award, members of the award’s board of trustees, a group of heads of national, Arab and international sports federations and clubs, and a number of sports sector officials.
And His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored the winner of the “Arab Foundation” award, which was granted to the “Al-Ahly Egyptian Club for Physical Sports”, and received by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and the winner of the “World Foundation” award from the International Summer Olympic Federations, which won The International Handball Federation, and the award was received by Joel DeBlanc, First Vice President of the International Handball Federation.
His Highness, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the sponsor of the award, honored the athletes who won the “local youth athlete” category, where 6 young athletes from the UAE from various sports, in appreciation of their achievements, who were determined by the fans’ vote via the Dubai Sports Channel and the award’s smart application, won by 50 percent. % of the votes reached 231,216 votes from the masses, in addition to 50% of the jury, and won the first places Saif Jassim Al-Mansoori, the second Muhammad Saeed bin Ham Al-Amri, the third Salwa Ahmed Al-Mansoori, the fourth Yazia Tariq Abdul Salam, and the fifth Rahma Khalfan Al-Murshidi, and in the center. Sixth Youssef Rashid Al-Matrooshi.
The “Arab Sports Personality” category was won by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, and it was received on his behalf by Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
In addition, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum awarded medals for winning athletes, teams and institutions in other categories of the award. His Highness honored the winner in the “Local Governance” category, which is Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, and in the “Local Coach” category, which was won by both Abdulaziz Muhammad al-Yasi and Abdul Hamid Ibrahim al-Hosani, the “Arab Administrator” category, which was won by Aya Mahmoud Madani from Egypt, the “distinguished local athlete” category, won by Zayed Abdel Nasser al-Kathiri, and the “Arab athlete” category, which was awarded to young Arab athletes who excelled in the 2020 Olympic Games. Which were held in exceptional circumstances, and they achieved outstanding results in it. They are Ahmed Ayoub Hefnawi from Tunisia, and Tariq Ali Hamdi, from Saudi Arabia.
His Highness also honored the winner of the “Athlete who has achieved a high level achievement” category, which was awarded to Maan Abdul Moeen Asaad from Syria, and the winners in the category “Athlete who achieved achievement in difficult circumstances and challenges for people of determination”, which was awarded equally to two athletes who excelled in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, namely, Walid Katila from Tunisia, and Jarrah Nassar from Iraq.
In the “Arab team” category, the Algerian national football team won the award, and Hakim Madan, a member of the Executive Office of the Algerian Football Federation, received the award.
His Highness the President of the award also honored the winner in the “Local Institution” category, which was won by the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. Abdullah Abdul-Ali Al-Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Foundation, received the award. In the “Local Administrator” category, Anas Nasser Al-Otaiba, President of the Asian Federation and Vice President of the International Boxing Federation, won. In the “Local Team” category, the UAE National Endurance Team won and the award was received by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation.
The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem of the UAE and a film about the eleventh session of the award, which comes this year in the wake of the celebrations of the golden jubilee of the UAE, and the film included statistics on the participants and winners of the award and the presentation of the silver coin issued by the award. A short film entitled “The Story of a Hero” tells the story of the Iraqi Paralympic player Jarrah Nassar, who faced the most difficult challenges since his birth with a physical disability, but insisted on becoming a hero in his homeland and on the world level.
Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club of Egypt, gave a speech to the honorees, during which he expressed his sincere appreciation for the award and its sponsor, and for the Emirate of Dubai and its wise leadership for the continuous interest, support and encouragement it gives to sports and athletes, stressing that the award bears the name of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President The UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, raises the value of the award and enhances its objectives aimed at stimulating excellence and creativity in various fields of sports work.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored the strategic partners of the award, namely: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Authority, and Nakheel Real Estate Company, and Issam Galadari, Board Member of the company, and Dragon Company. OIL received the honorary shield, Badria Khalfan, CEO of Human Resources in the company.
