Has the British government ignored warnings about severe droughts and climate fluctuations?

The British newspaper, The Observer, confirmed that a plan to ban the use of water taps as a national priority in the United Kingdom with mandatory water meters should be implemented across the Kingdom by the end of the current decade.

He added that this was the key message from government infrastructure advisers as the country prepares for a drought that could threaten millions of Britons. .

Did the British government ignore the drought warning?

The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) warned the government 4 years ago that significant new investments in the country’s water supply equipment needed to be made by 2030, and despite water companies making some progress, nearly 3 billion liters of water were being wasted every day.

The commission’s chairman, Sir John Armitt, said around £20bn of investment would be needed to reduce the leakage.

Failure to invest now could mean spending more than double the amount spent delivering bottled water by truck to residents of the UK because of more droughts, he said.

“You have to pay one way or the other, whether it’s investing in new tanks or moving water around the country, as well as stopping leaks,” he said.

It is estimated that only half of homes in England and Wales are fitted with water meters, but these customers use 33 liters less per day than the national average of 141 litres.
