A lesser-known sound notification feature can help you hear fire alarms even if you’re listening to loud music.
Google said on its website: “Audio notifications help you know what’s going on in your home.
when running Voice notificationsyour phone will always check for sounds you want notifications for, like when a smoke alarm sounds or the doorbell rings.”
To access the feature, open your Android device and go to the Settings app.
Click on Accessibility, then Sound Notifications.
You can then tap Open Sound Notifications and then access Settings.
Click on “Audio Alerts On” This should turn the feature on.
And sound notifications are already installed on Pixel phones and other Android phones.
If you’re having difficulty accessing the feature, you may need to download Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications on Google Play.
In addition to fire alarms, the feature also allows you to detect sirens, screams, baby voices, doorbells ringing, knocking, dog barking, appliance sounds, water, and ringing landlines.
This means that it can alert you to noise and potential danger both inside and outside the home.
You can choose how to be notified
Go back to “Open sound notifications” and tap on “Settings”.
Click “Notification Preferences” and choose how you are notified.
You can choose between “vibrate”, “blink light” and “alert on connected watches”.
