Women’s fatwas

A woman sent a question to the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa through the official channel of the house on the YouTube video site, about the fact that she takes a monthly allowance from her husband, and she is free to dispose of it, but she saves part of it to help her family without her husband’s knowledge. Is this permissible?

Dr. Ahmed Mamdouh, Secretary of Fatwa at the Egyptian Ifta House, replied that if the husband gave his wife a monthly allowance of her own so that she could buy her personal needs, she had the freedom to dispose of it, whether giving alms or helping her family without his knowledge.

Mamdouh added that the man gave a month’s allowance to the house and to spend on the needs of the house, and that it was not a personal expense for her, in this case she has no right to help her family without referring to him and asking permission from him.

The husband’s money if he needs it from the household expenses

And in another question that was received by the Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa about if the wife saves part of the household expenses without her husband’s work, who is in distress and needs money to relieve his distress, is it permissible to take from him and give the husband, and Sheikh Owaida Othman, Secretary of Fatwa at the Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa, answered the question, He said that if the husband fell into distress one day and needed money, she should give him, and if the house needed other expenses and she did not find an act to spend from the money saved on the house, this money does not belong to her, some women if they save part of the house expenses think that it has become It belongs to her, for this money belongs to the husband and you are her agent for this money.

Sheikh Owaida Othman, Secretary of the Fatwa, confirmed that household expenses differ from the personal expenses that the husband gives to his wife, as this is her property and she can dispose of it however she wants.
