I wouldn’t even buy Twitter for free. Kobesky says that Musk faces reality, Iroslas

Billionaire Elon Musk has offered shareholders $44 billion, or about a trillion crowns, for the social network Twitter. It is not yet clear exactly what the sales will mean for the network itself and its users. It seems that the company’s board of directors has reached an agreement with the American billionaire. The entire deal will now need to be approved by US regulators. “The entire process can be expected to be completed by the end of this year,” explains David Slížek, editor in chief of the Lupa.cz server.

It is not yet clear why Elon Musk decided to pay such a large sum for Twitter. By comparison, Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg paid $1 billion for Instagram.

About the sale of Twitter, about banned domains in the Czech Republic, notification of the Supreme Audit Office of the Smart Quarantine and the new rules for online services in Europe. Listen to the discussion between Peter Kopsky and David Slichick

So far, Musk has posted some public theses about how he envisions the future of Twitter. “He wants to make it an inclusive platform where freedom of expression is implemented, where everyone will be able to write anything that is not prohibited by law,” concludes Slichick.

“According to him, Twitter should also publish its algorithm as open source and users should be clearly informed when a tweet is visible or hidden. So a covert algorithm or manual manipulation is not possible.”

“I think he’ll run into reality,” Kopsky argues. According to him, this idea is simply not feasible, and Musk will be forced by regulators in other countries, its employees and users to return Twitter to its current form.

“These 400 million users are such a huge mass with so much inactivity that they cannot be treated arbitrarily,” says the journalist.

Smart Quarantine? Chaos!

The National Audit Office looked at how the Ministry of Health is operating during the pandemic, particularly in the area of information technology systems. According to his findings, the response of the Czech state was chaotic and uneconomic.

“The creation of the new IT infrastructure was accompanied by a high degree of improvisation, which led to the emergence of a number of problems. The bureau in particular criticizes the unpreparedness of the regional hygiene stations, which, among other things, lacked more than nine hundred computers for proper performance,” he also notes some of the conclusions of the Slicic’s inspection report.

“We can watch that confusion and incompetent decisions live, so to speak, every day.”

Peter Kopsky (Reporter from Deník N)

At the same time, the Ministry of Health has been aware of these shortcomings since at least mid-2017.

“We can watch the confusion and incompetent decisions live, so to speak, every day. But it is still important that it has been accurately named. The office noted key details, such as the doubling of administrative structures and a number of activities that go against the previously approved pandemic plan,” he says. Kopsky.

Moreover, according to him, it was not always a mistake, but an intent: “They consciously ignored the epidemic plan. And when you read it, you understand why. It is unusable. We were no less prepared for this kind of crisis.”

However, this does not mean that everything about IT systems in the state administration is bad. “People from the National Agency for Communications and Information Technology, the Office of Health Information and Statistics, volunteered all over eRouška. They all gave their offers. This should not fit into one portfolio with the poor decision-making activities of the ministry and government,” Kupsky recalls.

Hear David Slíek’s entire discussion with Petr Koubský. You will also learn that the European Union has agreed to adopt new rules for the operation of social networks. Or that some misleading sites are preparing a lawsuit against the national domain administrator CZ.NIC.
