USA hockey players beat Germany in the Riga World Cup Group B match 2:0. The winning goal was scored 64 seconds before the break in a numerical advantage by Jason Robertson, insurance was added Colin Blackwell at the end, Cal Petersen got Clean nets. Thanks to the better result, the Americans have jumped to the Finnish leaders so far and are confident of the quarter-finals. Despite the defeat, the Germans still hoped to advance.
The German team had a shooting advantage in the opening game (11:6), but it had no effect on the result, as Petersen and his counterpart Brockmann were flawless. Blackwell narrowly missed on closing in the seventh minute. Thompson did the same before the break, while Petersen grabbed Vauderell.
In the second part, the match was more cautious, and the German team sent only three accurate attempts to score the German goal. The Germans accumulated six. Rachel could have sent them to the front mid-match, but he didn’t shoot Petersen. In the 39th minute, Robertson made it to the end in the power game and did not hesitate.
The Germans ratcheted up their pressure in wanting to earn important points, but Wagner failed, and Pfeuderl was lost very soon. Thompson could have added insurance from the solo, and Brückmann was against it. In the end, the Germans got to a match without a goalkeeper, during which he fired Kahun’s wand. Then Blackwell decided to empty target. Thus, the Germans lost a close match in the Latvian capital without gaining a point for the third time in a row.
