The Iranian national team won the 11th edition of the Emirates Airline Confederations Cup for Beach Soccer, organized by the Dubai Sports Council, in cooperation with the FIFA Beach Soccer Committee, on Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim, with the participation of the teams: UAE , Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Iran, Japan, Spain, the United States of America, Paraguay.
The Iranian team succeeded in beating Brazil 2-1, in the final match of the tournament, which was held yesterday, amid a large crowd that filled the stadium.
Thus, Iran has equaled Russia in the number of times to win the championship, each with four titles, while Brazil has three titles.
The national team settled for fourth place on the list of the championship standings, after losing the consolation match against Paraguay 1-4.
The “White Beaches” presented its lowest matches in the tournament in terms of performance and desire to win, unlike the Paraguay team, which entered the confrontation with full force. International Football Association Juan Cusco, Assistant Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council Nasser Aman Al Rahma, and Chairman of the Tournament Organizing Committee Ali Omar Al Balushi. Japan ranked fifth, after beating America 4-0 to occupy sixth place, while Spain came seventh after beating Saudi Arabia 5-0, to occupy the last place in its group. Before the start of the final match, the Dubai Sports Council honored a number of beach soccer pioneers in Dubai clubs, who contributed to the dissemination and development of the game at the level of the emirate.
The list of honorees included: Muhammad Al-Kousi (Al-Nasr), Khalil Ahli, Khaled bin Dafous (Shabab Al-Ahly), Marwan Al-Hal (Al-Wasl).
The Dubai Sports Council also honored the tournament’s sponsors, namely: Emirates Airlines, Plan B, Dr. Health Care Hospital, Dubai Refreshments, and Dubai Sports Channel.
