British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics “a violation of international law and a blatant violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
“This is a clear violation of international law and a blatant violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is a rejection of the Minsk process and the Minsk agreements. Monday evening.
Johnson told reporters on Downing Street: “The United Kingdom will continue to do all it can to support the Ukrainian people with strong sanctions.
“London will issue sanctions with the first step of the Russian invasion or invasion, but all that has happened is very bad news,” he stressed.
“We will have urgent conversations with our friends and allies around the world, knowing that they all support us in this set of obstacles,” Johnson added.
“As it is difficult to see how this situation will improve, it has become clear that we should start using as much pressure as possible.”
In turn, British Foreign Secretary Lis Truss pointed out that Putin’s move “marks the end of the Minsk process and violates the United Nations Charter.”
“We do not consider it necessary to comment on such fabrications.”
On Monday evening, the Russian president signed two decrees calling on Russia to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics from Ukraine.
