Jordan announces the discovery of a 9,000-year-old “time capsule”

Director of the Department of Antiquities in Jordan, Fadi Abdullah Balawi, announced the discovery of a 9,000-year-old time capsule that “will help us better understand our past.”

He said that “God’s gift to Jordan has transformed the country into an open museum in which there are many sites,” noting that “the Department of Antiquities is facing an arduous task to preserve Jordan’s identity, and the ministry seeks to understand human behavior.”

And he indicated that “archeology every day through excavations amazes us, and Jordan has a large share of production,” stressing that “archaeological excavations are the archaeological aspect of archeology.”

“The technology for archaeological research has developed, which has helped us discover many international discoveries that enrich our museums and the museums of the world,” the minister explained.

The President of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University Atef Al-Kharabsheh said that “the archaeological discovery will contribute to writing the history of Jordan before history,” explaining that “the discovery is linked to the gatherings of fishermen in the Neolithic era, and it is the result of a 9-year research with the French embassy.”

For his part, Tourism Minister Nayef Al-Fayez said that the archaeological discovery “time capsule” is a qualitative addition to discoveries about past civilizations in Jordan, pointing out that Jordan is characterized by tourist sites such as desert palaces, Jerash, and Petra, and the tourism sector in Jordan is considered a cornerstone of the economy, and the ministry seeks To develop, rehabilitate and promote tourist sites.
