Koenigsegg has launched its groundbreaking new engine for the first time, extracting an astounding 600 horsepower from a 2-litre

It is interesting not only for the ratio of the size of the blow to the energy that it generates, but also for the number of techniques used. It is a pity that he has only three cylinders, but thanks to that, in the end he looks very tough.
A few days ago we were able to highlight Koenigsegg Gemer. The first four-seater of the Swedish brand was presented in 2020, and the next will go into production. So it was even more surprising when he appeared on the American Trader Show. Moreover, it was not vacant in the queue, but a real car. However, from all indicators, it seems that only a pre-production sample is available, which, moreover, does not drive a set of a combustion unit and three electric motors, but only an electric aggregate that facilitates movement at exhibitions.
As the Swedes have currently confirmed, Gemera is still in development. In addition, it is an early stage of testing, where the capabilities of the two-liter three-cylinder with revolutionary Freevalve technology are limited to 4,500 revolutions. However, in production clothes, the engine must handle 4,000 rpm. more. It will then produce 600 hp and 600 Nm of torque, as the electric motor that spins the front wheels will reach another 400 hp. Each pair of rear electric motors is then tuned to 500 hp, and the system will deliver an incredible 1,724 hp.
Thus, although the Gemera weighs a relatively fat 1,850 kilograms, thanks to a powerful plug-in hybrid, it has to manage a sprint in a hundred in 1.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 400 km / h when using all units, but in the case of electric units, the maximum speed is limited to 300 km / h. This is, of course, a lot more than most cars can handle, but you won’t enjoy that speed for long. The capacity of the batteries is only 15 kWh, which is enough for a distance of 50 kilometers. However, definitely not at full throttle, at that moment we expect no more than 5-10 km.
At the same time, the president of the automaker Christian von Koenigsegg described his new baby as a “time saver”. Behind it is its four-seater interior, which can accommodate four technicians. Therefore, the development is progressing much faster, for example, than the Jesko and Regera models, which are also at the stage of mobile prototyping. At the same time, the Swedes will provide us with news about the progress in the coming months, so for the moment we can at least enjoy the start of the unit, which certainly does not seem small. Three cylinders don’t deny, but her words are pretty harsh, too.
The Koenigsegg Gemera is still under development, but production is supposed to start next year. It is limited to 300 pieces, which means it has to be the brand’s most massive model, if that word can be used in relation to Koenigsegg. Photo: Koenigsegg
