Barbora Krezhikova will play in the Roland Garros Grand Prix after the singles and doubles finals. Together with Katerina Siniakova, Polish-American duo Magda Linetova defeated Bernarda Peraova 6:1, 6:2 in today’s semifinals in Paris.
Krejčíková could become the first tennis player in 21 years to win singles and doubles titles at the French Open. Mary Pierce last did it at home in 2000.
By advancing to the finals of both competitions, Krizhikova followed her compatriot Lucia Savatova. In 2015, USA singles finalist Serena Williams lost and successfully paired with Bethany Mattek Sands in doubles.
Krejčíková and Siniaková dominated the semi-finals from the start and with a more active and doubling concept, the opponents lost in 1 hour 11 minutes.
They now have a chance to win their third Grand Slam title and second in Paris, where they were victorious three years ago. At that time, they also celebrated at Wimbledon in the same year. This year, Krejíková and Siniaková also played the finals at the Australian Open.
Their opponent in Sunday’s Roland Garros final will be Polish-American duo Bethany Matek-Sands, Iga Swiatkova. If she succeeds, Krejčíková will become the world number one for the second time in her career.
In the singles final, Krizhikova will face Russia’s Anastasia Pavlogenkova on Saturday.
