“In the medium and long term, we have to focus a lot on renewables and reducing energy consumption,” Deputy Prime Minister Marianne Gorica said.
MCities and municipalities in the Czech Republic can receive tens of billions of crowns from European funds – mainly from the Modernization Fund. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Marianne Gorica (KDU-ČSL) told mayors and their deputies at a conference on energy independence on Tuesday in the House of Representatives. “The state budget is already on the brink, and we still cannot provide compensation. It is necessary to look for new savings and resources,” Gorica said, adding that there are now enough funds to invest in savings and new resources thanks to the Modernization Fund.
It is set to support ten EU low-income countries, including the Czech Republic, in switching to climate-neutral countries. It is funded in part by the emission allowance auction. Funds from the fund are primarily intended to accelerate the transition to renewables, meet national emissions plans or improve air quality. In addition to entrepreneurs, it can also be used by cities, municipalities and regions.
