Media reports stated, on Tuesday, that Liverpool player, Sadio Mane, was taken to hospital after a strong collision with the Cape Verdean goalkeeper during his country’s match with Senegal in the sixteenth round of the African Nations Cup.
Mane was hit in the head in a joint ball with Cape Verdean goalkeeper Fouzinia, who was sent off after returning to the video referee in the 57th minute.
A screenshot on Twitter showed Mane in bed undergoing treatment between the goalkeeper standing next to him, and the two looked calm.
He did not immediately announce the extent of the Liverpool star’s injury, and whether it might hinder him from completing the tournament.
Mane and Fuseña were hospitalized after the powerful collision, and came head to head in the air as they battled for a long ball.
Sadio Mane scored a goal and then went out injured to lead Senegal to a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde, which completed the match with nine players, and qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations.
Mane scored after a fine shot, after a corner kick, from inside the penalty area in the 63rd minute.
A few minutes after the first goal, and after the referee reviewed the clip in a side screen of the video assistant referee, Mane fell to the ground and asked to leave, after it appeared that he was suffering from a head injury.
After his exit, his replacement, Bamba Diang, added the second goal, after he was completely alone in the goal in the second minute of stoppage time.
After the match ended, a number of tweeters shared pictures of Mane and Fauzinia from the hospital, who were in stable condition.

Senegal will play in the quarter-finals against the winner of the round of 16 match to be held between Mali and Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday.
