After much speculation, and MBC’s refusal to give answers about the fate of the “Muawiya” series, the “Shahid” platform announced in its response to a tweet on Twitter that the religious drama will not be shown within the Ramadan series network.
In response to a question by one of the tweeters about whether the series will be shown or not, the official account of the MBC network answered: “Unfortunately, the (Muawiya) series is outside the Ramadan race.”
In fact, the work had faced many problems since the announcement of the start of its filming under the supervision of director Tariq Al-Arian, starring Loujain Ismail as the Umayyad caliph Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan, along with the Jordanian actor Iyad Nassar’s embodiment of the role of Imam Ali.
And at the end of last month, the controversy over the work exploded, after protests from Iraqi authorities who considered that the work might “raise sectarian strife.” At that time, a letter spread, said to be from the network’s office in Baghdad, addressed to the Iraqi Media and Communications Authority, confirming that the work would not be shown in Iraq, “in compliance with the rules of media broadcasting issued by the authority.”
But the MBC management returned and confirmed that this letter was fabricated, and in a statement issued in early March, it stated that “those letters bearing MBC logos are baseless and forged letters, and they impersonate the group, so everyone who transmits or promotes them on behalf of Intentionally or unintentionally, he will put himself under duly legal accountability.. MBC Group also clarifies that the series “Muawiya” is still being prepared productively and technically, and the date of its presentation will be announced as soon as it is ready.
Finally, the response came hours ago, and with the start of the Ramadan show season, from the “Shahid” platform, to confirm that the work will not be shown at present, and it is postponed to a later time that you did not specify.
