After a number of leaks and trailers directly from the automaker, the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car is showing itself in all its beauty.
Mercedes-Benz EQS has become a new electric pioneer, after all, the German automaker himself talks about the novelty as an alternative to the S-Class.
EQS is currently offered in two versions. The first is called 450+, it has a power of 245 kW and a rear-wheel drive. For the most demanding customers, the 580 4Matic version with ATV and 385 kW output is ready. However, the creators don’t end there either, they are also planning a high-performance version with a power of 560 kW! Both versions available are graceful. The faster the weakest from a standstill to a hundred in 6.1 seconds, the stronger it is in 4.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 210 km / h.
The two batteries available have a usable capacity of 90 and 107.8 kWh, respectively, and according to WLTP, they promise a range of 770 kilometers on a single charge. The creators talk about new generation batteries with a significantly higher energy density. The batteries are said to be 26% more efficient than those in electric SUVs. Battery management software is developed by the company itself and can be updated wirelessly. And sustainability has also been thought about, so that, for example, the share of cobalt has been reduced to just ten percent.
Despite the latest technology, the Mercedes EQS uses a “only” 400-volt build. But even it can provide a maximum charging power of 200 kW. The on-board charger has 11 kW as standard, and you can pay an additional charge to double. You can then charge from 0 to 80% in 31 minutes using the fast charger. A quarter of an hour on the fast charging pad will save 300 km.
The car arrives on an all-new EVA electric platform. It measures 5.2 meters in length, 1.93 meters in width and 1.5 meters in height, so it’s a good piece of automobile, with a cargo area of 610 liters. But you don’t have to worry about mishandling the city streets. As standard, the car receives a rear axle swivel, with the rear wheels rotating at an angle of 4.5 °. You can pay extra for a more sophisticated solution that can handle up to ten shades. Under the front hood, you’ll be searching in vain for a suitcase. In fact, you are not only looking here, because its opening is reserved for trained service only. This will fill washer fluid through the cap in the left front bumper.
This is only the beginning. Mercedes boasts that the flagship electric vehicle has undergone stringent testing, resulting in a Cd drag coefficient of 0.20. According to the manufacturer, the EQS is the most aerodynamic production vehicle in history. Mercedes also remembers an impressive number with regards to its ATV. It controls the operation of electric motors 10,000 times per minute and allows for many times faster response than mechanical all-wheel drive.
Of course, those interested will not be deprived of a number of additional elements with which they can improve their luxury electric vehicle. For example, automatic comfort doors are available on request, which you can open remotely via a smartphone.
We can’t forget the huge 56 ” Hyperscreen, which can be fitted to a vehicle for an additional fee. Yes, it’s the huge screen across the entire dashboard. It features the latest version of the MBUX multimedia system, including, of course, online updates and voice control in the Czech language.
The lighting technology was not exhausted either. EQS receives digital LED lights with 3 powerful modules in each lamp. There are 1.3 million micrometers in each headlamp, so the headlights can display an image with a resolution of 2.6 million pixels. There will definitely be something to discover on the flagship electric vehicle during the first tests. But we don’t know yet if we will see him on Czech roads this year.
