Mercedes presents the new generation Citan

Citan once again relies on the Sprinter and Vito models as a pickup truck in the brand hierarchy under Renault Kangoo. It is also recently Arrived in a new edition.

In addition to the classic Citan box truck, there is also a personal version of the Citan Tourer, which is still closer to the utilitarian version than it would be for the T-Class.

The Citan has the same body and door base as Renault Kangoo, but it gains a redesigned arch and tailgate, including the fenders and headlights.

It measures 4,498 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,716 mm. In the future, Mercedes will also offer variants with a long wheelbase, which will provide more interior space.

The design focuses on practicality with one or two sliding doors that allow an opening of 615 mm. At the rear there are two asymmetric doors with an opening angle of 180 degrees and a hatch height of 1,059 mm, but the Citan Tourer can also have a one-piece cover.

The utility version can transport objects up to 3.05 m in length, while the loading edge is located 590 mm from the ground. The cargo will transport up to 2.9 cubic meters or two euro layers respectively, while the towing capacity is 1.5 tons.

Under the hood there is a choice of two four-cylinder engines – 1.5 liters diesel and 1.3 liters petrol. The diesel is available in three powertrain variants, Citan 108 CDI with 55 kW / 75 hp and 230 Nm of torque, Citan 110 CDI with 70 kW / 95 hp and 260 Nm of torque, and Citan 112 CDI with 85 kW / 116 to 270 Nm of torque . However, the middle model is only available on the Citan Tourer.

Those who prefer petrol have two options, the Citan 110 with 75 kW / 102 hp and 200 Nm of torque, and the Citan 113 with 96 kW / 131 hp and 240 Nm of torque.

The most powerful diesel and gasoline engine can always be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the standard is a six-speed manual.

The novelty will also come in the electric version of the eCitan, which will later be supplemented by the EQT family. The electric truck will offer a combined range of 285 km on a single charge under the strictest WLTP standard. Fast charging from 10 to 80 percent of capacity takes 40 minutes.

Orders will open in leading European markets in September, Czech prices have not yet been announced.
