EU leaders do not want the UK to win Euro 2020, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, as they leave the EU, believes Swedish parliamentarian Peter Lundgren.
Many Europeans in the four major countries of the European Union believe that since Brexit, relations between British and European politicians have become less friendly. Many also believe that the EU is determined to punish the UK for withdrawing from this regional group. Despite a comprehensive trade agreement in December last year, the findings of an exclusive Euronews poll conducted by two pollsters, Redfield and Walton Strategy, reflect a close relationship between the two sides.
The referendum asked citizens in France, Germany, Italy and Spain if they had wondered whether the behavior of British politicians towards the EU and its members had become more or less friendly, or had not changed since Brexit.
According to the poll, 51% of citizens in Spain, 43% in Italy, 39% in Germany and 37% in France have become “less friendly” to British behavior. The Euronews poll also revealed that many in the four EU countries agree with the statement that “the EU wants to punish the UK for leaving the Union.”
In an exclusive interview with the Express newspaper, Lundgreen also acknowledged the statement: “The EU is trying to make things harder for the United Kingdom.” And bigger than ever, of course they are not trying to make things easier for the UK. “When asked if Macron and Angela Merkel want the United Kingdom to win Euro 2020, Lundgreen said:” From my experience, I can say that they certainly do not believe that winning is in the interest of the United Kingdom. , “They do not like the fact that England will never succeed in this endeavor.”
