Microsoft brings its long-running PC security app Defender to mobile devices in a new format.
In an effort to make itself known as a provider of trusted security solutions, the Redmond-based giant is now introducing a new Defender app across Windows, macOS, iOS and Android devices, all in one go.
There are a bunch of features that Microsoft Defender offers directly, but it is up to each user to decide if it is better than other available security solutions.
The new Defender provides anti-malware protection and continuous antivirus scans for any malicious apps already on your phone, as well as new apps. Most importantly, you’ll be able to control what the app scans by highlighting trusted apps and files that you think are safe. And of course the app is also capable of providing real-time alerts and security tips across multiple devices.
Keep in mind that if you are using an iOS device, you will not benefit from some of the features available on Android such as antivirus protection, but iOS users will get a new feature by preventing phishing on the web.
The new Defender is targeted at individuals and comes with a dashboard where users can manage their security protections and view their security safeguards in one place. The app requires a personal or family Microsoft 365 subscription to use it, but if you already have one, you can download Defender directly from the Google Play Store, according to the Fone Arena website.
