The Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah, the top scorer of the Liverpool team, confirmed his intention to continue with the English team next season, although there is only one year left on his current contract.
The Egypt captain is still in talks with Liverpool about renewing his current contract, although reports indicate that an agreement is not imminent.
Salah scored 31 goals and provided 15 assists in the 50 games he played with Liverpool in all competitions this season, and some reports linked him to leaving the team at the end of the current season, with his contract approaching expiration.
However, Salah made it clear in a press conference yesterday, before the Champions League final next Saturday against Real Madrid, that he intends to stay at Anfield for at least another year.
“I will stay next season for sure,” said the player who recently won the top scorer and goal maker in the English Premier League this season.
Salah had previously said that he did not want to talk about the status of his contract until the end of the current season, and he repeated this position, adding: “In my opinion, I do not focus on the contract, I do not want to be selfish. It’s an important week for us. I don’t want to talk about the contract.”
He scored 31 goals and provided 15 assists in 50 games this season.
