Sharjah 24:

When you step foot at the Sharjah International Book Fair, a distinguished “studio” must catch your eye with its remarkable title “Morning and Evening Talk”, which is the name of one of the novels of the late international writer Naguib Mahfouz, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, which was later turned into a television series of the same name.

From the moment you enter the studio, your eyes will fall on a number of scenes, most notably several pictures of “Mahfouz” – nicknamed “Prince of the Arab Novel” – and pictures of newspapers that included news and pictures of him, as well as “coffee and tea tools”, which are similar to what Mahfouz was using. During his writing, he would start his day by visiting al-Fishawy Café, and having coffee while writing his novels and stories that history will never forget.

The venue represents a studio during which interviews are conducted with the celebrities participating in the exhibition, so that it is distinct and different and at the same time expresses the spirit of the exhibition, that the interview is hosted by the late writer Naguib Mahfouz.

This choice is due to Naguib Mahfouz’s literary importance and the great cultural legacy he left over many years, making him the best representative of contemporary culture at the Sharjah International Book Fair.
