Muharraq hosts Kuwait in the AFC Cup West Final

Muharraq hosts Kuwait in the AFC Cup West Final

Bahrain’s Muharraq will host Kuwait’s Kuwait Club on Wednesday at Ali Bin Mohammed Stadium in Arad, as part of the semi-finals of the 2021 AFC Cup, in what is considered the final of the Western Region.

Al-Muharraq qualified to face Kuwait after defeating the Lebanese Al-Ahed 3-0 in the semi-finals of the West Asian region, while Kuwait beat Jordan’s Salt by two goals without a response.

This is the first confrontation between Muharraq and Kuwait in the history of the competition, as the first seeks to reach the final and compete for the title for the third time in its history.

Al-Muharraq had previously reached the final in the 2006 edition and lost to Jordan’s Al-Faisaly, but returned in the 2008 edition and won the title for the first and last time at the expense of the Lebanese Safaa.

Al-Muharraq, led by its local coach Issa Al-Saadoun, hopes to reach the final and achieve the title for the second time after 13 years, but the task will not be easy for the owner of the land and the record holder to win local titles, as he is going through a phase of imbalance, especially in the local Premier League competitions, with his position in the position Last tenth with only one point from three games.

It is the first time for Bahraini Muharraq to face a team from Kuwait in the history of its Asian participation, while Kuwait has faced other Bahraini teams on seven occasions, winning five of them and losing two.

For his part, Al-Kuwait Al-Kuwait won the title three times, and is betting on reaching the final for the fifth time in its history, and the last time was in 2013, when he surpassed his compatriot Al-Qadisiyah of Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti team has never lost in the semi-finals.

In 2015, Kuwait reached the semi-finals, but was excluded by a decision of the International Football Association (FIFA) due to the suspension of the Kuwait Football Association.
