NATO continues to support Ukraine militarily

mentioned StoltenbergDuring a press conference in the Belgian capital, Brussels, Russia has moved to destabilize neighboring Ukraine, describing what Moscow is doing as a “blatant violation” of international law.

And the Secretary-General of NATO added that the Russian move undermines the sovereignty of Ukraine and its territorial integrity, in reference to the Declaration of Russia Recognizing the independence of the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, in eastern Ukraine.

Stoltenberg stressed NATO’s commitment to providing political, financial and military support to Ukraine, in light of the current crisis with Russia. “We are committed to defending our allies.”

Despite the increasing indicators of escalation and diminishing opportunities for dialogue, the Secretary-General of NATO called on Russia to reduce the escalation and proceed on the path of diplomacy.

He added that all indications show that Russia is still planning a “large-scale” operation against Ukraine, “they promised to withdraw, but they advanced.”

Meanwhile, the Russian Federation Council approved, on Tuesday evening, President Vladimir Putin’s request to deploy Russian soldiers abroad, after he requested sending troops to support pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine.

Putin asked the Federation Council, on Tuesday evening, to approve sending Russian soldiers to support pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, who recognized the independence of their regions.

After a quick discussion, the Federation Council unanimously approved the request by a vote of the 153 members.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Pankov read Putin’s request before an extraordinary meeting of the council, saying that “on the borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, an army of 60,000 (Ukraine) has been deployed and heavy armor.”
