The Jordanian Royal Court published a video via “Twitter” yesterday, Sunday, dedicated to the working visit of King Abdullah II to the United States today, Monday.
The Royal Court indicated that King Abdullah II will be the first Arab leader to meet with US President Joe Biden at the White House.
He pointed out that the visit aims to “strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, work for the stability of the region and start the phase of recovery from the pandemic, and to convey the Arab point of view after Jordanian diplomatic activity in the region.”
Reuters reported that in addition to the meeting with the US President, King Abdullah will attend a working breakfast with Vice President Kamla Harris at her residence on Tuesday, followed by a meeting with Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A senior Biden administration official said that talks between the US president and the Jordanian monarch are expected to include the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in light of Bennett’s recent arrival to power replacing Benjamin Netanyahu.
It is noteworthy that last week, King Abdullah II met in Amman with the commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, and General Richard Clarke, the commander of the US Special Operations Command, to discuss developments in the region and efforts to combat terrorism.
