Cairo – “Al-Quds Al-Arabi”: On the seventeenth of this December, the activities of the fourth session of the Cairo International Short Film Festival will start in the hall of the Artistic Creativity Center in the Civilization Cinema in the Egyptian Opera House.
Palestine is participating in three films within the Arab competition in the festival, which are “Six Days Are Not Enough” by Mohamed Zakaria, “Lovesick in the West Bank” by Saeed Zagha, and “Hamza” Lord Kayal, in addition to the movie “Buzzing” by Mohamed Fawi from Sudan. And “Revival” by Amr Ali from Syria, and “TV” by Murad or Aisha from Jordan, and “A swing” by Raneem Al-Mohandes from Saudi Arabia, and “Hasf Rouh” by Marwan from Tripoli from Tunisia, and “Winter” by Karm Awad, which is a production Sudanese Jordanian subscriber.
The Arab Short Films Jury consists of director Ashraf Fayek, head of the committee, actress Lubna Wannas, and director of photography Mustafa Ezz El Din.
In the student competition, five films are competing: “Kilograms” directed by Alaa Al-Babi from Egypt, “I Love You, I Hate You” by Aya Ashraf Al-Mursi, “Life in Another Place” by Safaa Al-Sayed, “The Trapped Ones” by Ahmed Massiri, and “Art Therapy.” “By Khaled Suleiman” and “Coffee and a Cigarette by Omar Al-Qadi.”
The student film jury consists of director Tony Nabih, director Yasser Shafei, and film critic Manar Khaled. As for the international competition, eight films are participating in it:
“Hair tai egg homework books” from China, “safe” from USA, “North Pole” from Serbia, “The criminals” from France, “Live till I die” from Sweden, and “The tiktoker” from Cameroon , and “Hot rod” France, and also from France “4 AM”
The international short film jury consists of film critic Ahmed Shawky, screenwriter Maryam Naoum, director Sameh Alaa, and director Murad Mostafa.
Ten films are participating in the Mohamed Bayoumi Award competition, including six Egyptian films: “Before I Go” directed by Mostafa, “Sarah” directed by Abdullah Adel, “Order from Heaven” directed by Anas Awad, and “33 March” directed by Ahmed Khaled. , and “16 Milli”, directed by Abdullah Jad, and “Trend”, directed by Ahmed Tariq Sami, in addition to two films from Tunisia: “Sakala”, directed by Bilal Bali, and “Khawf al-Nas” directed by Amir Bel-Rahma, and finally the movie “Highway” by Lebanon, directed by Pedro Hassouni.
The jury consists of Dr. Safaa Emara, Professor of Criticism at the Higher Institute of Art Criticism, film critic Fayza Hindawi, and film critic Ahmed Aser. Seven female directors are competing for the Aziza Amir Award, and they are Raneem Al-Mohandes from Saudi Arabia with the movie “A Swing”, and Rita Rizk from Lebanon with the movie “Hors champ”, in addition to five Egyptian female directors: Nahed Nasrallah with the movie “Drums”, and Shaima Tafesh with the movie “Radia”, and Amal Askar in the movie “Tahera”, Ibtisam Mukhtar in the movie “Closure”, and Kawthar Younes in the movie “My Girlfriend”.
The competition jury consists of Dr. Thana Hashem, a screenwriter and professor of script at the Higher Institute of Cinema, journalist Buthaina Kamel, and Dr. Rania Yahya, a professor at the Academy of Arts and a member of the National Council for Women.
As for the jury of documentaries, it consists of director Sherif Fathy, film critic Ramy El Metwaly, and documentary director Hanan Rady. Shows will be free of charge at Al-Hanager Cinema and Al-Hadara Cinema at the Cairo Opera House.
The Egyptian short film jury consists of director Emad Al-Bahat, actress Tharaa Jbeil, and film critic Ahmed Saad El-Din.
