Jaylen Brown scored 17 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a surprise victory over the flying Miami Heat, so that the Philadelphia 76ers benefited from this fall, and took the lead in the eastern region of the NBA, by defeating its host Detroit Pistons.
This was the second successive victory for the Celtics in Florida, after their superiority over the Orlando Magic, before achieving a convincing victory 95-78 over Miami, after a remarkable performance in the first half.
This was Miami’s first loss at home this season, after he started in a good way, achieving six victories against one defeat, which enabled him to lead the Eastern Province.
On the other hand, Boston suffered in the first weeks after receiving an average of 115 points per game before Thursday’s meeting. However, the defensive performance was the key to the fourth win this season.
Jimmy Butler was the best scorer in the Heat with 20 points to Duncan Robinson’s 16.
“We have to commend Boston’s defensive performance, this is probably our worst offensive performance this season, including pre-season and training camp,” Heat coach Eric Spolestra said.
In Detroit, the 76ers took advantage of this stumble to rise above Miami in the East by beating the Pistons 109-98 for their seventh victory of the season.
Middle Eastern Detroit, looking for their second win of the season, advanced 66-63 at the end of the first half before declining in the second.
It was Seth Corey, who led the team to victory over the Chicago Bulls again in a good “forma”, scoring 23 points.
The Utah Jazz consolidated its lead in the western region by defeating the Atlanta Hawks 116-98.
In Los Angeles, the Oklahoma City Thunder took advantage of the injury absence of superstar LeBron James to return from afar, inflicting their first defeat in four games for the Blakes 107-104 at Stepless Center.
James, who is expected to miss a week due to stomach pains, continued the match from the benches, leaving the defending champion with a 19-point lead and his fourth loss for five wins this season.
