The Egyptian General Book Authority, headed by Dr. Haitham El-Hajj, issued a book entitled “Egyptology Pioneers and Thieves”. Egyptian AntiquitiesWritten by Dr. Muhammad Aboul Fotouh Ghoneim.

This book aims to introduce the reader and clarify the image for him of those who were credited with the Egyptian antiquities in the field of various archaeological studies of language, architecture, arts, life and urbanization, and in the field of excavation and archaeological discovery from foreigners and Egyptians. As well as those who sought wealth and fame at the expense of Egyptian antiquities and had a hand in stealing many of the antiquities of ancient Egypt.

And how was the field of antiquities managed in the era since the French declaration of Champollion deciphering the ancient Egyptian language.

That era was accompanied by a frantic wave of excavations for Egyptian antiquities, in a simplified style, and the book dealt with each of those personalities, shedding light on their upbringing, scientific and educational qualifications, fates or circumstances that led each character to work in the field of Egyptian antiquities or to come to Egypt, and from These are François Champollion, Bernardino Drovetti, Henry Salt, Gaston Maspero, and others.
