Barcelona defender Gerard Pique led his team to victory over Dinamo Kiev, Ukraine, on Wednesday, in the third round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Pique gave Barcelona the first victory in the Champions League this season, scoring the game’s only goal at the 36th minute of the match.
And according to the global network “Opta” for football statistics, Pique raised the number of his goals in the continental championship to 16, becoming the defender with the most goals scored in the history of the “Champions League”, sharing the achievement with the Brazilian Roberto Carlos, the former left back of Real Madrid (16 goals).
It is ironic that the beginning of Pique’s European goals was against Dynamo Kiev in the 2007-2008 season when he was a Manchester United player.
