Pogba returns to the ranks of Juventus against Sporting Lisbon in the European League

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said today, Wednesday, that midfielder Paul Pogba will be ready to face the team at home against Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the European Football League, tomorrow, Thursday, after recovering from injury.

The France World Cup winning international returned to Juventus last July after leaving Manchester United and has suffered several injuries this season, most recently to his thigh in mid-March.

Pogba has played less than 40 minutes this season, when he came off the bench against Turin and Roma in Serie A earlier this year.

Allegri said, “Paul was called up and we will assess his condition tomorrow. It is important that he completes some training sessions without stopping. It will be important that he be at his best in the last part of the season,” adding that Pogba has more time before he recovers completely.

Allegri also said he spoke to Leandro Paredes after a heated discussion in training last Monday, with the Argentina international frustrated by his lack of participation in matches.

“There was a conversation with Leandro. We wanted (to sign him) at any cost and I understand his frustration. It’s part of the game. The most important thing is that everyone is focused on the last 60 days of the season,” Allegri added.

“I always make my decisions for the benefit of the team. I trust the available players. I am happy with his reaction, and this means that he wants to play well in the last two months of the season.”

And when asked about his team’s chances, the Italian coach stressed the importance of going step by step in the European League.

“Winning consistently is unusual… The European League is a difficult competition and reaching the final will be a great success, but there are four matches left and we have to start with the first match tomorrow,” he said.
