Porsche will celebrate the anniversary of the creation of the legendary model with an exhibition in its museum, which will focus on the Carrera RS 2.7 from September 20 this year.
When the model debuted in 1972, it was the most powerful version of the 911 on the road. The car had a wider body, a rear wing and a front wing. Porsche also used a thinner material on the body and removed the sound insulation to save weight.
Under the hood of the RS 911 was a flat-six with a volume of 2.7 liters with 207 hp and 255 Nm of torque. There was also a version of the Sport without rear seats, armrests or the Touring package, which, on the other hand, was more comfortable and added 115 kg to the car.

The Carrera RS 2.7 reached a major automotive milestone in this area, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, making it the world’s first mass-produced car in less than 6 seconds. The RS version was also the first production Porsche to feature a rear spoiler.
Porsche originally intended to produce only 500 units for Group 4 Special GT racing, but interest in the car was high among the general public. So, the German automaker eventually produced a total of 1,580 copies. The entire 1308 was in the Touring version, the 200 in the Sport spec, 17 in the base version and the 55 specifically adapted for the racing circuits.
