During the Olympics, which will take place this year from July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan, Prague will also return to the Olympic Games. Prague City Council members have agreed to provide exceptional financial support in the amount of 7 million kroner for the implementation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Festival project.
Olympic atmosphere in Prague
The Olympic Festival aims to convey the atmosphere of the Games to cities and regions by building a sports park, where visitors can not only watch the live broadcast of the Olympic Games, but also get the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports and cheer on Czech athletes.
“It is important for Prague to return to normal after a pandemic and a long lockdown. Our good physical condition also plays a role in how our health care system and society deal with similar crisis situations. Sport is one of the best prevention of many health problems, so subsidies to support Sports and physical education play a very important role in Prague. Especially at this time, it is necessary to keep yourself as fit and mentally as possible.” Prague sports advisor Fit Simral (Pirates).
From July 23 in the Olympus district of Stromovka
A similar project was last seen in Prague seven years ago, when the first edition was held in Letna in Prague during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Since then, the event has gained international reach, but Prague was at the birth of this successful project and the organizer will present it to Prague residents for the first time in its summer form at the Olympus complex in Stromovka. The entire festival will be held in accordance with the current epidemiological situation and the issued regulations in force, which the organizer takes into account, will be taken into account.
