Britain’s Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, gave an emotional speech in which he paid tribute to his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, during the platinum jubilee ceremony held at Buckingham Palace, which drew a large crowd.
Prince Charles said: “You have laughed and cried with us, and most importantly, you have been there for us, during these 70 years.”
Charles added that it was serving the people that “wake my mother up in the morning”, and thanked her on behalf of the world.
The final day of celebrations of the platinum jubilee of the Queen’s accession to the throne will conclude on Sunday with a huge procession near Buckingham Palace.
The Platinum Jubilee Parade – a carnival parade that will take place on The Mall, which links Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square – will capture key moments from the Queen’s seven decades on the throne, star-studded performances and a giant puppet show.
Thousands flocked to “The Mall” Street to watch the concert.
Street parties will take place across the UK in what is being described as the Great Jubilee Lunch.
The Queen’s absence from the party
The Queen did not attend Saturday’s concert, in keeping with doctors’ advice, but opened the celebration with a comic strip secretly recorded of her with “Paddington’s Bear”, a beloved fictional character from children’s literature.
In this clip, the two drink cream tea at Buckingham Palace in a chaotic scene as the famous bear drinks tea straight from the jug and accidentally sprinkles some cream on the servant.
Later, the bear reveals that he always has an emergency stockpile of his favorite treat, a marmalade sandwich.

The Queen replied, smiling and laughing, “Me too,” before opening her bag and saying, “Keep my sandwich here.”
This clip brought back to the audience memories of the Queen’s meeting with James Bond at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London 2012 – when the Queen appeared to descend on the stadium from the sky with the secret agent.
Prince William also spoke at the ceremony, focusing on his family’s record of raising awareness about the dangers lurking on the planet and his optimism for people uniting to protect it.
The ceremony, in which a large number of stars participated, witnessed the attendance of 22,000 people who gathered on “The Mall” Street to watch the performances presented by a variety of musical artists, in addition to the appearance of theater stars, small and large screens, and celebrities from the world of sports.
Elton John did not attend the ceremony in person, but his participation was broadcast on the facade of Buckingham Palace.
The event featured songs by Sir Elton John, George Ezra, Craig David, Doran Doran, Alicia Keys and Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder, while Sir Rod Stewart’s performance of “The Beautiful Caroline” made Prince William and his family sway in their seats in line with the song.
The ceremony also witnessed performances by the team of the play “Hamilton” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and many musical pieces by Andrew Lloyd Webber, in addition to a song from the play “Six”, which was shown in the West End theater and revolves around the wives of King Henry VIII.
Rod Stewart made the audience sing along with him.
There was a review of the sporting achievements of Britain and the Commonwealth countries by actor and rapper Doc Brown. The audience also heard the Italian tenor singer Andrea Bocelli sing the final act of Puccini’s opera, “Nesun Dorma”, which means “Everyone leaves sleep.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their two children sat in the front seats, while Boris Johnson and his wife sat in the back.
The ceremony was attended by more than 30 members of the royal family in Britain. As for Prince Harry and Meghan, whose daughter “Lilipet” turned one year on Saturday, they did not attend the ceremony.
The two-and-a-half-hour concert opened with a performance by Queen & Adam Lambert, with guitarist Brian May appearing at the Queen Victoria Memorial, 20 years after he appeared on the roof of Buckingham Palace for the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The ceremony concluded with singer Diana Ross, in her first live performance in Britain in 15 years.

Expression of gratitude
Prince Charles then took to the stage and commented on what he described as “an outpouring of warmth and love over the Jubilee Weekend”.
“I wanted to express, on behalf of all of us, my feelings of gratitude for your dedicated service throughout your life,” Charles said to his mother.
He went on to talk about his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, who died last year, and said he was confident he was with them in his spirit on this day.
“My father would have enjoyed this party and would have joined us wholeheartedly to celebrate all that you continue to do for your country and people,” he said.
Charles went on to say that the Queen continued to make history and made the Commonwealth an important force for good. “Nevertheless there was plenty of time for fun in the midst of work,” he added.
“She has pledged to serve her whole life and has continued to fulfill her pledge,” he said.
Portraits of the Queen covering her decades of rule were displayed on the facades of Buckingham Palace during the ceremony.
As portraits of the Queen throughout her reign were displayed on the front facade of Buckingham Palace, Charles said: “These pictures on your home are the story of your life and ours. That is why we all say to Your Majesty: Thank you.”

“Harnessing the Best of Humanity”
Prince William, the Queen’s grandson, spoke at the ceremony during the segment devoted to environmental issues.
The segment opened with words from Sir David Attenborough, and as images from the natural world projected onto the facade of Buckingham Palace and music blazed by Hans Zimmer, audiences heard an archival audio recording of the Queen talking about the future of the planet in 1989.
Prince William said the natural world had become more fragile during the Queen’s life. He added that she has spent decades advocating for a better care of our world. He said that the restoration of this world had never been so urgent.
“If we work together to harness the best of humanity and restore our planet, we will protect it for the sake of our children, grandchildren and future generations,” William said.
