Raising the Kingdom’s flag to the panel of countries contributing to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s initiative

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; The Minister of Energy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, in the presence of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna, the ceremony of raising the Kingdom’s flag to the panel of countries contributing to the Agency’s initiative to modernize Seibersdorf laboratories (Renol-2 Initiative).

His Highness the Minister of Energy said that the Kingdom appreciates the main and important role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in enhancing safety standards and its efforts in supporting countries, as these donations develop their capabilities in a way that enhances its vital role in harnessing the atom for peace, indicating that these contributions are aimed at maximizing the use of technologies. Nuclear and provides resources and services to IAEA member states to ensure the safe use of nuclear technology.

The Kingdom had announced its donation of two and a half million dollars to support the initiative of the International Atomic Energy Agency to modernize Seibersdorf laboratories (Renol-2 initiative), as well as its support for the agency’s initiative in the integrated work of the qualitative development of nuclear technologies to combat some diseases (Zodiac) and to enhance preparedness and response to them.

These donations come as an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continuous support for the efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency and its initiatives aimed at developing its capabilities in a way that enhances its vital role in harnessing the atom for peace.
