Rashford returned to action last October, after undergoing shoulder surgery, and has performed very poorly this season, appearing completely unsatisfactory during his team’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last week.
“I am completely confident that he is not happy with his current performance, but talking about the details of the matter … every week does not help,” Rangnick said in a press conference before his team’s match against Watford in the English Premier League.
He added: “During training, he is in the best condition, and that is the reason for my decision to play him against Atletico Madrid. Now we want to perform the performance he gives in training during the English Premier League matches, and this is the next step he has to take.”
He continued, “We faced almost the same situation with Sancho six or seven weeks ago, which is the best example of what can happen. The player is required to perform the desired performance, and he is the only one who can reach his best performance.”
Manchester United occupies fourth place among the English Premier League teams with 46 points from 26 games, one point ahead of Arsenal, who played 24 games.
