Real Madrid beat Shakhtar by 5-0 in the Champions League

Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior scored two goals and assisted a goal, and his French colleague Karim Benzema continued his brilliance this season to lead Real Madrid to a crushing 5-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine on Tuesday in the third round of the Champions League group D matches.

At the Donbass Arena in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk, Real taught its host Shakhtar a tough lesson and inflicted a heavy defeat at home to raise his score to six points and advance to the top of the group with a goal difference only against Sheriff Tiraspol.

Real faced a clear match and a solid defense from Shakhtar in the first half, which ended in his favour, with a goal of friendly fire, as Shakhtar’s Sergey Krivtsov scored by mistake in his team’s goal.

But the defensive dam of Shakhtar collapsed in the second half, conceding three goals in the first 20 minutes of this half, amid a clear brilliance from Benzema and Vinicius Junior.

The three goals were signed by Vinicius in the 51st and 56th minutes and Rodrygo in the 65th minute, while French Karim Benzema scored the fifth goal for Real in the first minute of overtime for the match.

Shakhtar’s balance froze at one point from three matches, to be at the bottom of the group.

The match yesterday was the best preparation for Real before the important and difficult El Clasico match against Barcelona next Sunday in the Spanish League.

Real started the match with a pressing attack in search of an early goal in the net of its host, but the team’s attempts did not achieve what it sought, as Karim Benzima’s shot went near the post in the third minute, and the Shakhtar goalkeeper saved a missile shot by Toni Kroos from a distance in the next minute.

Real continued its attacking pressure, while Shakhtar relied on quick rebounds, which did not pose a real danger at the beginning.

But over time, the performance became more equal between the two teams, and Shakhtar’s rebounds caused some inconvenience to the Real’s defense, although they did not pose a great danger to the Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper, except for a quick attack in the 23rd minute, from which the ball reached the Real’s goal, but the defense kept it away before Esmaili, who indicated the referee for offside .

Shakhtar goalkeeper Anatoly Tropin saved another dangerous shot from Toni Kroos in the 30th minute.

Shakhtar’s defense continued its steadfastness in the face of penetration attempts by Real Madrid players until friendly fire awarded the guests the goal in the 37th minute.

The goal came after a quick attack by Real and a high pass played by Lucas Vazquez from the right side, and Sergey Kravtsov of Shakhtar tried to clear the ball before Karim Benzema, who rushed on the edge of the penalty area, but turned it into his team’s goal by mistake.

The goal gave the Real team more confidence, so that the royals continued their attacking pressure in the following minutes, but Tropin again blocked a powerful shot from Benzema from the edge of the penalty area in the 42nd minute, to keep his team’s hope of responding during the second half.

Real resumed his offensive attempts at the beginning of the second half, but this time he was not late in translating his attacking superiority, as Brazilian Vinicius Junior scored the second goal for Real in the 51st minute.

Shakhtar tried to respond to Real and reduce the difference, but Courtois blocked Fernando dos Santos’ shot in the 55th minute after an organized attack by the team.

The response was harsh from Real, as Vinicius scored his second and third goal for the team in the 56th minute after a successful breakthrough by the player who manipulated five Shakhtar defenders before firing the ball into the goal.

Real fired a bullet of mercy at its host by scoring the fourth goal in the 65th minute after a quick organized attack in which Benzema advanced again from the left side and passed the ball to Vinicius inside the penalty area, and the latter, in turn, passed it to Rodrygo, who did not find it difficult to deposit it in the goal.

Despite being behind by four goals, Shakhtar did not despair, but the team tried to reduce the result, but Courtois saved his goal from a dangerous opportunity in the 67th minute and blocked Marlos Romero’s shot from inside the area.
