The movie “The Super Mario Brothers” reaps revenues of more than one billion dollars worldwide
The Super Mario Brothers movie continues. iMovie (The Super Mario Bros.!. Movie) topped the box office in North America, with revenues exceeding one billion dollars around the world, in the first similar result recorded by a movie for this year, according to preliminary figures issued by the specialized company, “Experience Relations”.
The animated film, based on the video game of the same name and produced by Universal Studios, Nintendo and Illumination, grossed $40 million last weekend in Canada andUnited Statekeeping it at the top of the North American box office.
Since The Super Mario Brothers hit theaters over the Easter weekend, the film has grossed $490 million in North America and an additional $532 million in other countries, according to Examiner Relations.
The Super Mario Brothers movie’s total worldwide revenue amounted to $ 1.02 billion in four weeks.
The “Hollywood Reporter” specialized magazine indicated that the Super Mario Brothers movie is the first movie to exceed one billion dollars in revenue this year, and the tenth animated movie ever to achieve similar revenues.
And the movie “Evil Dead Rise” produced by “Warner Brothers” came second in the ranking, achieving in its second weekend revenues of $ 12.2 million.
Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland star in the film as two sisters who battle a group of demonic creatures.
In third place was the movie “Are You There God?” It’s Me Margaret (Are you there god? it’s me) teen comedy-drama based on one of the books by novelist Judy Blume, with revenues of $6.8 million. “It’s a good launch,” said film analyst David Gross.
And the fourth place went to the movie “John Wick: Chapter 4”, which began showing six weeks ago, with revenues of five million dollars. In this new installment of the popular “John Wick” series, Keanu Reeves plays a professional killer fighting an international criminal group.
And fifth was the movie “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi”, which was re-screened 40 years after its release in cinemas, generating revenues of $ 4.8 million. Among the most prominent stars of this work are Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.
