What is reverse psychology?

In 1982, Wilson and Lasseter conducted a famous study to clarify interaction theory using children. The researchers took two groups of children and watched them play. Then they chose a game that was least popular and told one group that it could not be played, and later allowed them to play that particular game.
What they found was that groups who were told they couldn’t play the game actually played it 3 times longer than the other group.
This is just one example of reverse psychology in action that has become a scholarly study of many social studies.

In the modern workplace, reverse psychology is a common practice that is used in both “peer-to-peer” scenarios and in manager-employee relationships as well. And there are a few tricks to make sure that you can become more proficient in using reverse psychology without getting into big trouble.
