UK Finance, Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Affairs and Development organized the panel discussion on climate and environment.
The UK Department of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Commonwealth and the Department of Development organized a panel discussion on “Coordinating Climate and Environmental Concepts in Official Development Assistance”. The session discussed how to take into account the protection of the environment in foreign aid to achieve results that are favorable to humans, the economy and the environment.
Participants exchanged knowledge and experiences on how to protect the environment and invest in the environment and how to invest in clean energy to improve the livelihoods of the world’s poorest people.
The British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Neil Crompton said: “Climate and environment are very important to achieve the Global Sustainable Development Goals, and this session on climate and development between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom is an important initiative. It is important to exchange experiences and take into account the environmental aspects of foreign aid in partnership with Saudi Arabia and its leadership.
For his part, Professor Abdul Aziz bin Mudaib al-Rashid, Minister of Financial Assistance for Macro-Financial Policies and International Relations, said: “This session is a wonderful initiative to discuss climate change in a timely manner. The Kingdom’s strategy for climate change during the Green Saudi initiative.”
The discussion comes ahead of the UK’s leadership of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, and coincides with the launch of the Green Saudi initiative aimed at improving living standards and protecting future generations. By increasing the use of clean energy and reducing emissions.
