Dr . Ahmed Al Hussein
The symbolism of the Saudi flag represents unity, pride, loftiness, and justice, and is a source of pride, pride, and inspiration for the people of the country, who follow it generation after generation. The flag has the values of loyalty, belonging, and the love that every citizen attaches to their homeland, their pride in the great foundations and values on which this state was built, and a number of historians and university professors emphasized the importance of the royal decision, noting in statements to “Al-Riyadh” that the flag carries great symbolism in the hearts of the people of the country, including what it includes. One of the meanings that symbolizes pride, unity and glory.
At the beginning, Dr. Badran bin Abdul Rahman Al-Hunaihin, Director General of the Cultural and Historical Accreditation Department at the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, considered the issuance of a royal order approving March 11 of each year as a special day for the Saudi flag. It is a very important matter because of its symbolism and historical depth among all the Saudi people, indicating that it is our national duty to raise awareness about it by highlighting its symbolism and stages of development over the times and what it represents of unity, pride, loftiness and justice on which our state has been based since its founding by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1139 AH (1727 AD) to this day, and Dr. Al-Hunaihin said: The Saudi flag also embodies the concept of the state and its historical depth that extends for three centuries, as the flag of the state and a symbol of its sovereignty. Since that time, this flag has continued as a symbol of pride in the Saudi identity and its principles, because of the great connotations it contains that indicate prosperity and development. and giving. On this occasion, he added, we may recall the stages in which the Saudi flag developed. During the era of the first Saudi state, its first design of green color was adopted, and the phrase (There is no god but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God) was adopted as its motto, as an expression of the unity of God and that the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace He is the Messenger of God and the seal of the prophets and messengers, and the form of the flag continued during the era of the second Saudi state in the year 1240 AH (1824 AD) similar to the first. And after the start of the unification campaigns in 1319 AH (1902 AD), the flag continued in its form during the era of the first and second states. And added with
Yet at the top of the word of monotheism are two crossed swords after announcing the unification of the country in 1351 AH (1932 AD), then the two crossed swords were replaced by a sword drawn at the top. After that, the Saudi flag was adopted in green and the word of monotheism, and below it was a sword in its handle towards the flagpole. What is worth mentioning is that a royal decree was issued approving the flag system of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the reign of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1393 AH (1973 AD).
Advantages of science
Dr. confirmed. Al-Hunain stressed that the flag of the Saudi state has several advantages that make it unique in its design and position, pointing out that the symbolism of the flag has a special place not only in the hearts of Saudis, but even on the Arab and Islamic level, as its content has remained constant since the laying of the first building block of the Saudi state and the foundation on which it was built. On it under the banner of monotheism, “There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God,” and this is what makes its value high, as it is the only flag in the world that does not fall back under any circumstances. Emotionally passed down from generation to generation.
High values and meanings
For his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Hussein, Professor of Curriculum and Education Development at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, said that Flag Day is a high national occasion to promote belonging and national values. And Al-Shumoukh, pointing out that the issuance of the honorable royal order defining the day – March 11 – of each year as a special day for science, and naming it Science Day will further strengthen belonging and national values. Al-Hussein, the beauty of the meanings of Flag Day motivates us to celebrate it and our dear homeland every year. The beauty and lofty patriotic meanings included in the noble royal order motivate us to strengthen the system of national values in our educational curricula, in our parallel and supportive programs and activities, in our schools and universities, and all friendly countries on Flag Day draw our attention to their national gains. We also raise the flag of monotheism high, and we raise our aspirations for an ambitious and pioneering homeland in all fields, proceeding from the value of the national flag that extends throughout the history of the Saudi state since its founding in the year 1139 AH, which symbolizes the testimony of monotheism that mediates it to the message of peace and Islam on which this blessed state was based and symbolizes the sword To strength, pride, height of wisdom and prestige, and for nearly three centuries, the flag of my country was a witness to the campaigns to unify the country that the Saudi state waged. And its strength and sovereignty and a symbol of cohesion, coalition and national unity.
And Professor Al-Hussein said, “The flag of my country reminds us of the 27th of Dhul-Hijjah 1355 AH corresponding to the 11th of March 1937 AD.” The day when the founding King Abdul-Aziz – may God rest his soul in peace – endorsed the flag in the form that we see today fluttering with its great connotations that refer to monotheism, justice, strength, development and prosperity.
For her part, Dr. Maha Ali Al Khashil, a lecturer at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University, said: The royal order from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz – may God protect him – to consider March 11 as a special day for science, under the name (Science Day), has many implications that confirm the value The great flag that the Saudi flag carries in the heart of every citizen, and the Saudi flag is proud of the certificate of monotheism that mediates it, which is a symbol of Islam and the peace on which our country was founded. Our flag also bears the sword, which is a symbol of strength, justice, wisdom and status. As for its green color, it is a symbol of peace and giving, and it is the color that has accompanied the Saudi flag since the founding of the state. Noting that the flag is a clear symbol of national unity, and expresses the unified line behind our leadership, and it is the symbol of loyalty that every citizen carries. His vision fuels the spirit of enthusiasm to serve and defend the country.
I took dr. Al-Khashil said the historical stages of the Saudi flag, and she said: Caring for the flag went through historical stages, as it was a symbol of the state since its founding, accompanied the stages of its formation and building its strength. And embroidered on it, in white, the Certificate of Monotheism, on which our country was based, and the flag was woven from silk and green irises, with a white part at the tip of the flag that follows the flagpole, and it continued to bear the same components and symbols during the era of the second Saudi state, and during the era of King Abdul Aziz, the flag continued With its components with the addition of the sword, to be the flag of the Kingdom, and on the day of Dhu al-Hijjah 27 1355 AH corresponding to March 11, 1937 AD, King Abdul Aziz – may God rest his soul in peace – approved the flag in the form that we see today, fluttering with its great connotations that refer to monotheism, justice, strength, development and prosperity, and the flag system was promulgated Saudi Arabia in the year 1393 AH / 1973 AD, followed by the issuance of the regulatory regulation for the flag system in the year 1398 AH, and from today we will celebrate annually, God willing, the Day of Knowledge, and it will be an annual occasion that reminds generations, year after year, of the history of the Saudi flag and its associated places Color our history and national identity.
At the conclusion of her speech, Dr. Al Khashil emphasized the uniqueness of the Saudi flag with its components that shaped our principles and our history, and added that allocating a day to celebrate the flag is a day in which we remember the principles and values on which our country was based, and we recall the sacrifices and efforts that were made to raise the national flag to keep it flying high.
