Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his happiness with the great victory of his country at the expense of Luxembourg, on Tuesday, in the eighth round of the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to help Portugal win five without a response.
After this triple, Ronaldo became the player to score the most “hat-trick” with his country in football history (10 hat-tricks), and he also reached his 115th goal with the Portugal national team in 182 matches, enhancing his record in the list of players who scored the most goals in international matches.
After facing Luxembourg, Ronaldo wrote, through his official account on “Instagram”: “Another victory, another step towards our goal, another historic night in defense of our colors.”
He added, “Everything becomes easier when we play in our stadium and in front of an audience who cares about us from the first moment to the last.. I promised that I would always look for more and more, this is in my DNA, and in the DNA of all of us (the Portuguese), we don’t feel good.” We never let our arms down, and we will always fight for everything we can achieve.”
Portugal raised its tally after this victory to 16 points from 6 matches, and is second in Group A, one point behind leaders Serbia, while Luxembourg’s tally has stopped at 6 points and is third in the standings.
