Russian Sophia Sabiga, who was detained by Belarusian security forces on Sunday with Belarusian opposition journalist Raman Pratasevich after an emergency landing of a civilian plane in Minsk, admitted in a video clip that she worked on a website publishing data on police officers who intervene against protesters. The record appeared, with a clear coercive statement, on the Belarusian pro-government channel Žoltyje Slivy.

“I am the editor of the orna kniga Belarusi telegram, which publishes personal information on employees of the internal authorities,” says Sapiga. BrieflyWho memorized it very quickly and incomprehensibly. The fact that she initially identifies herself with personal data and asserts that she was detained with Bratasevi on 23 May also attests to the fact that she recited the prepared text for others.

Sapega’s father told Tass on Tuesday that his daughter is being held in the KGB’s Belarusian Secret Police Investigation Center. She is alleged to have committed a crime of an indeterminate nature and was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment before the trial.

According to a spokesperson for the Russian embassy in Minsk, a consular officer at the embassy may meet 23-year-old Sabija on Tuesday evening. The woman allegedly feels normal and the embassy is still waiting for official information about the next steps that the Belarusian authorities will take towards her.

The mother of the detainee, according to Reuters, expressed her concern about the health and safety of her daughter in prison. “Maybe my hopes are now based on a miracle and knowing that my daughter is definitely not guilty. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time.” According to her, Sophia has been in a relationship with Pratasevic for several months.
