The head of the Russian Space Agency, “Roscosmos,” Dmitry Rogozin, said today, Wednesday, that “the agency will hand over to the Lebanese government pictures of the port of Beirut before and after the explosion that occurred there in 2020”.

“Today, I signed a document with a detailed annex, at the request of the Lebanese presidency, regarding the explosion that occurred in the port of Beirut,” Rogozin said.

It is noteworthy that on the 29th of last October, Lebanese President Michel Aoun officially informed Russia, through its ambassador in Beirut, Alexander Rudakov, of Lebanon’s desire to obtain Russian satellite images, which were taken on the day of the great explosion that occurred in the port of Beirut. .

A few days earlier, President Vladimir Putin said, during a press conference on the sidelines of the “Valdai” conference, that his country would study the possibility of assisting in the investigation related to the explosion in the port of Beirut, and would provide satellite images, if available.

The explosion in the port of Beirut on the 4th of August killed more than 200 people and injured thousands. It also caused severe damage to a number of the capital’s neighborhoods.
