The “Shasha” event, organized by the (Fan) Foundation to support media art for children and youth, succeeded in transforming (Aljada) in Sharjah into a theater full of creativity in the art of “anime” and recreational and educational activities, as it accompanied its visitors for three days in a series of musical and cinematic performances and competitions Art galleries and interactive workshops.
The event included kiosks selling artworks inspired by Japanese culture, as well as Japanese sumo wrestling shows, a corner dedicated to animation and comics images, and game booths. Visitors also had the opportunity to take pictures of the most famous comic and “anime” characters.
On the closing day of the event, Emirati artist Mohammed Al Shaibani presented a workshop entitled “Basics of Comics”, during which the participants learned about the so-called “method of the model”, developed by the international comic artist Howard Jacob, in which the technique of preparing and planning the page to tell the story is determined. It also includes a set From instructions on how to form elements and show time in comics drawings, and direct the reader to move from one page to another, and the workshop participants had the opportunity to apply what they had learned by preparing a preliminary drawing of a comics book page and later completing it by adding texts to it.
Al Shaibani said: “This workshop revolves around enhancing the technical skills of the participants and instilling many values ​​such as diligence, patience and perseverance because they depend on specific methods, to develop their abilities to become distinguished storytellers because the art of storytelling is an element of the human experience.”
“Anime artists” benefited from four additional workshops for beginners on the basics of “anime” and “Japanese manga” on the closing day of “Shasha” 2022, where the “Anime Backgrounds” workshop dealt with the aesthetics of its scenes, while the “Introduction to Manga” workshop was presented. A glimpse into the world of this Japanese art, while the “Basics of Drawing Manga” workshop guided the participants on the main steps to master this type of art, and the young participants designed manga characters in the “Make Your Super Character” workshop.

Participants in the “Cosplay Competition” dressed up their favorite characters from “anime”, “manga” films and series, science fiction films and superheroes, such as the character Sabo from the series “One Piece” and the character Kaunashi from the movie “Spiritt Away”.
